INVESTMENT TEAM
Members of our investment team serve as both analysts and portfolio managers. As analysts, the team shares responsibility for research and developing investment strategy. As portfolio managers, each has personal client relationships and implements Vista's investment strategy, customizing it to fit individual circumstances. The result of our team approach is the effective and consistent application of Vista's core beliefs and investment philosophy to each client's unique situation.
Adam D. Cornwell
Portfolio Manager
Adam is a portfolio manager and research analyst. Prior to joining Vista, Adam spent five years in the web technology field providing business development solutions and client services to small business owners. He graduated summa cum laude from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance. Adam has passed all three levels of the CFA Program and will be eligible for the CFA charter upon completion of the required work experience.
Gordon J. Gorsuch, CFA
Senior Portfolio Manager
Gordie is a senior portfolio manager and research analyst. Gordie has over seventeen years of investment experience. Before joining Vista, he was a leading member of the Private Client Group at Columbia Management Company, where he worked for eleven years. Gordie is a CFA charterholder and graduate of the University of Oregon.
Douglas E. Johanson, CFA
Chief Investment Officer, Principal
Doug is the firm's chief investment officer. He has been managing individual and institutional portfolios for the past seventeen years. Prior to co-founding Vista, Doug was a portfolio manager and Director of Research at IMS Capital Management. He previously managed over $3 billion in fixed income assets at Morley Capital Management. A CFA charterholder, Doug earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance (magna cum laude) from the University of Oregon. Doug is a board member of CASA for Children and past-President of the Portland Society of Financial Analysts.
Douglas L. Post
Portfolio Manager
Doug is a portfolio manager and research analyst. Prior to joining Vista, Doug spent the past four years in private equity and mergers and acquisitions at The Obsidian Finance Group and Washington Mutual, respectively. He began his career with CSC Consulting in New York, advising in the financial services industry. Doug earned an MBA from the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business and his undergraduate degree from Cornell University.
Dougal T. Williams, CFA
Senior Portfolio Manager, Principal
Dougal is a senior portfolio manager and research analyst. He has been managing client portfolios for eight years. Before arriving at Vista, Dougal was a portfolio manager at Allen Trust Company, where he managed portfolios for individuals, trusts and charitable organizations. A CFA charterholder, Dougal graduated Phi Beta Kappa with Honors from the University of Oregon. Dougal is a board member of the CFA Society of Portland.
Lindsey W. Williams
Senior Portfolio Manager
Lindsey is a senior portfolio manager and research analyst. She has ten years of investment experience. Prior to joining Vista, Lindsey worked as a research analyst and fund administrator for Merrill Lynch Investment Managers in New York. She began her career with Merrill Lynch's Private Client Group in Portland as a registered client associate. Lindsey earned her MBA from the University of North Carolina's Kenan-Flagler Business School and her undergraduate degree from the University of Washington.
To be awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, a candidate must meet the following qualifications, as specified by the CFA Institute:
- Examinations - Sequentially pass three six-hour exams. The Level I exam is given twice per year; Levels II and III are given once per year. These exams test the candidate's knowledge in a range of topics including asset valuation, accounting, economics, statistics, portfolio management and ethics.
- Experience - Have at least four years of acceptable professional experience working in the investment decision-making process.
- Compliance - Adhere to the CFA Institute conditions, requirements, policies and procedures, including those set forth in the CFA Institute Articles of Incorporation, Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct. CFA charterholders must sign and submit an annual Professional Conduct Statement.
- Education - Strive to maintain and improve one's competence and the competence of others in the profession. CFA Institute has a voluntary professional development program that recommends 20 hours per year of qualifying investment education. CFA charterholders must also be members in a local CFA Institute Society.
